Bejeweled 3 for Archipelago
A multiworld randomizer integration that turns Bejeweled 3 levels, badges, and quests into progress shared across games.
Archipelago connects different games into one shared randomizer. An item found in one player’s game can unlock progress in someone else’s. This project brings Bejeweled 3 into that multiworld.
Classic levels, badge tiers, and quests become checks. Game modes, Relic Keys, Level Caps, and Badge Tiers arrive as items from the other players. Four seed lengths and three goals let players choose the scope of their slot.
Connecting the game
A separate Python client reads the running game’s memory to track progress. It does not modify the game or its save. The client handles connection state, binds each seed to a game profile, and holds checks until the required items arrive. A guide tab shows what to play next and which items are still needed.
The supported target is Bejeweled 3’s Windows Steam build 1.1.12.4196, with Archipelago 0.6.7 or newer. Each seed needs a fresh in-game profile.
Testing and iteration
The project is a 0.2.0 beta. Its README records one live four-player multiworld test. Feedback from that playtest led to an early local placement for the second base mode, so another player’s progression would not hold up the start of a slot. Automated tests cover generation and client logic; broader compatibility and balance remain work in progress.
